Getting To Know You - Pastor Robb Long
Written by Geoffry Ikpeama

1. What did you want to be when you were young?

The first thing I remember telling anyone I wanted to be was a "motorcycle man". Later, I entertained thoughts of being a professional athlete. But, I distinctly remember thinking the one thing I definitely didn’t want to be was a minister! Be careful what you say you won’t ever do. God may take it as a personal challenge.

2. What is your favorite Bible story and character?

I really like the apostle Paul. One of my favorite stories is when the shipwrecked Paul was bitten by a poisonous snake, leading the superstitious natives of Melita to conclude that Paul was a murderer, deserving of death! When Paul shook the viper off into the fire, and showed no ill effects from the poison, the natives proclaimed him a god! Every time I read that account, I smile at the quick turnabout in the natives’ attitude toward Paul. But I also like the idea that, through Christ, we can shake off Satan and his deadly attacks, leaving him to be destroyed in the fires of hell.

3. What do you look forward to most about Heaven?

I have a list, but I also like surprises. So, let me say I’m most looking forward to all the unimagined surprises God has for us in heaven; things we don’t yet even have a clue about. Those are the things I really want to see!

4. What do you think is the most necessary component to serving in ministry?

Selflessness.

.

5. What do you enjoy most about being in ministry?

Enthusiastically teaching and preaching God’s Word in personal and public evangelism, and seeing the joy people find when the light of divine truth dawns upon their minds and is reflected in their changed lives.
