Meet Mark & Lisa

Joining St. Louis Central over the Summer from Walla Walla University, and as newlyweds, Lisa joins Hillcrest School as the lower grades teacher, while Mark considers his many opportunities in St. Louis.

  • Q: What's the most exciting thing about moving to St. Louis?
  • A: The most exciting thing about moving to St. Louis is starting our lives out together.  I am also getting to begin my teaching career, which I am very excited about!
  • Q: What's the biggest difference between Missouri and Washington?
  • A: One of the big differences between Washington and Missouri is the humidity.  In Walla Walla, we could have many days reaching 100 degrees in the summer, but there was low humidity, so this is a big change.
  • Q: What is your favorite thing about being a teacher?
  • A: My favorite thing about being a teacher is the effect that I have on my students.  I love seeing my students begin to understand concepts they have been struggling to grasp. I also enjoy seeing them grow throughout the year, learning about our world, community and  God.
  • Q: What do you (and Mark) like to do for fun/as hobbies?
  • A: Mark and I enjoy spending time in nature like going on hikes, and I love doing crafty projects. We also like to spend time with friends.
  • Q: How has Adventist education impacted your lives?
  • A: Mark has been in Adventist education since he started 2nd Grade at Mount Vernon SDA Elementary and then high school at Mount Vernon Academy.  I started in the Adventist system by being home schooled through 8th grade, and then I started high school at Columbia Adventist Academy.  We both went to Walla Walla University where we met as freshmen. Adventist Education impacted our lives by giving us a place to be able to learn about God, while at the same time making friends that have the same beliefs as we do.
